Red delicious is a dark red medium sized tall apple. This apple was a very successful commercially grown variety that developed a reputation for being bland tasting. When left to ripen on the tree it is sweet, aromatic and crunchy. Hence the name delicious was given to this apple. Zone 5-7, bloom group 4
