Blake’s pride is a moderately vigorous pear tree that needs a couple of years to start to bear fruit. It was developed by the USDA to resist fire blight and Pear scab. Blake’s pride is a golden yellow russeted pear that looks great without spraying the tree. This makes it a great pear to grow organically in a home orchard or yard. Blake’s pride requires another pear tree nearby for proper pollination. It has juicy, sweet flavor with high sugar content when fully ripe. A real treat of a desert pear that’s also suitable for baking or canning. Lasts up to 3 months in cold storage. Zone 5.
