Anjou is a green pear also known as D’Anjou and was introduced to America around 1842. It is a winter pear that ripens late in September or early October keeping for months in cold storage. Anjou doesn’t change color much in the ripening process and requires a couple of weeks in cold storage before ripening at room temperature. A true all purpose pear it has dense flesh with a sweet fruity flavor. It has blight resistance and looks fine without spraying the tree. Zone 4.
